Easton Church side with Chritmas decorations

What a beautiful Christmas season! We had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas this year. The Christmas Carol Sing-Along with the Joel Barlow A Capella group was a lot of fun, and the Christmas Eve service was very nice as well. We can’t wait to see everyone again in the new year!

I Wonder as I Wander

December 27, 2015 by ReverendAmanda

I think about those priests at the temple when Jesus was a boy, wondering what child is this that has such knowledge of God and I think about how they must have been in awe. They must have wondered about what was happening and where God was trying to take them with this child. Now, … [Read more…]

A Beacon of Hope

December 24, 2015 by ReverendAmanda

I always loved the part of the Christmas story when the Wise men came from the East. As a little little girl in the Christmas pageant, they were my favorite characters because they wore the crowns, the special costumes and carried something. But what sticks out to me now is that they saw a star … [Read more…]

Love First

December 20, 2015 by ReverendAmanda

Love first, not panic. In a world, where confusion and violence seems to reign supreme, we all need to truly hear this message in our hearts: love first, place panic on the back burner. About a week ago, I read a story from the New York Post of true love and kindness for a stranger. … [Read more…]

Rejoice in the Lord, Always

December 13, 2015 by ReverendAmanda

When my sister in law and brother were expecting their first child, eight years ago, the whole family was beside themselves with joy. Jackson was the first grandchild in both families. Needless to say, he was spoiled terribly. But that joy superseded all the struggles in life and worries about the world for our family. … [Read more…]

The Promise

December 6, 2015 by ReverendAmanda

Who here gets frustrated at the holiday times? I think we all do here and there. It is all the questions that need to be answered. Then there are all the traditions that need to be done just right; all the preparation that goes into a short four weeks for one day. I remember as … [Read more…]

A Song of Thanksgiving

November 22, 2015 by ReverendAmanda

The Psalm that we heard today, is a Psalm of thanksgiving to God, it is also known as a kingship Psalm. In the Psalm, we see recognition of the might of God. But as I contemplated this idea of a song to God, I was brought to ask the question: “Does it really count as … [Read more…]

Giving Back Grace

November 15, 2015 by ReverendAmanda

I have always been fascinated by the accounts of offerings in the ancient world compared with modern day understandings of offering. When I was a child, we had a seminarian student at our church teaching the fifth and sixth grade class, I remember asking her if Jewish people still offered up burnt offerings to God? … [Read more…]
