Weddings

The Congregational Church of Easton welcomes all couples who want to have a Christian wedding and would love to be a part of your special day. Our church is an authentic New England meeting house nestled in the hills of Fairfield County. It offers easy access to Stamford, Norwalk, Bridgeport, Fairfield, Monroe, Trumbull, and Danbury for those looking for a wedding in a beautiful New England country town. We also have a fellowship hall that would be perfect for holding intimate receptions.

Wedding at Easton Congregational Church

We are a small church and will do our best to accommodate your needs. In order to make your special day go smoothly, we recommend open communication between the couple, wedding planners, and church staff.

If you would like to have your wedding at our church, there are a few things you should know that will make your planning easier.

Contact

The best way to reach us is to use our e-mail form or call the office at 203-261-2527. The Reverend Basler is in the office Thursday between 9:30 am and 1:00 pm.

We recommend contacting us at least 4 months in advance. We do use our facilities for church purposes, so our friendly staff will work with you to select a date that works for everyone. Be assured that we will help you pick a date and a time so that your wedding will be the only thing going on at our church while you are here, allowing us to focus on making your day special.

The following table will help you plan for the costs of your wedding. Your payments are greatly appreciated and help pay for staff time, and to keep buildings lighted, heated, and well maintained.

Please write separate checks for each service one week before the date of the wedding. We will not cash the checks until after the wedding ceremony is held.

Preparation

Any wedding held in our sanctuary will be officiated by our own Rev. Amanda. Outside ministers cannot officiate weddings held at the Congregational Church of Easton.

You and your fiancé will also be required to participate in at least one pre-marital counseling session before the wedding with Rev. Amanda. This will be a time for you to talk about your relationship and your plans for after the wedding.

Finally, the sexton will be paid so she can clean up after the services.

Facilities

Our sanctuary is large enough to accommodate 200 guests. Since it was built in the 1830s, it is not handicapped accessible. Weddings ceremonies must be held in our sanctuary.

We also have another building across the street, called the Old Academy Building. That building houses our restrooms, space for you and your wedding party to get ready, and a fellowship hall that can accommodate 80 guests for a sit-down reception.

There is enough free parking for all of your guests. Parking is split between 2 lots; one next to the sanctuary and one next to the Old Academy Building. Our parking lot next to the sanctuary also has a turnaround where limos can drop off the wedding party. It can also be used for guests that need to park closer to the building.

Ceremony

Easton Congregational Church offers the services of an organist for your wedding. However, you can bring in outside musicians if you want. We offer a piano and organ to be played, and you can bring in outside instruments as well.

Photographers and videographers are welcome in our sanctuary during the ceremony. We do ask that they follow some guidelines to ensure the ceremony proceeds smoothly. Photographers need to make sure they do not get in the way of any of the proceedings. They can use flash during the procession, but we ask that they do not use flash during the service. We also ask that photographers and videographers do not stand in front of the pews. The back of the sanctuary and the loft may offer the best spots to take pictures and videos.

You may set up your own decorations and candles in the sanctuary prior to the wedding ceremony. We do ask that you use fake flower pedals to prevent staining the carpet. We also ask that you refrain from throwing confetti, rice, etc. after the ceremony as it is difficult to clean up.

Reception

You can reserve our fellowship hall to hold a reception following the ceremony. It is able to accommodate 80 guests, making it a perfect spot to hold an intimate reception.
